Pupa (gastropod)

''Pupa'' is a genus of small sea snails, marine gastropod molluscs in the family Acteonidae. 〔 Bouchet, P. (2012). Pupa Röding, 1798. Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at http://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=204293 on 2012-06-04 〕
The genus is named ''Pupa'' because the shell of these snails resemble an insect pupa in overall shape. The animal has a large headshield with a deep median slit, separating it into two posteriorly projecting lobes.
